The Woodlawn (also known as Woodlawn - East 233rd Street) Metro-North Railroad station serves the residents of the Woodlawn section of The Bronx via the Harlem Line. It is 11.8 miles (19 km) from Grand Central Terminal and is located on East 233rd Street, three blocks from the 233rd Street station (2 5 trains) on the IRT White Plains Road Line of the New York City Subway. Service at Woodlawn is hourly. Due to its short platform length, only four cars can open their doors at this station.

This station is located in the Zone 2 Metro-North fare zone.

Just north of the station is Woodlawn Junction, where the New Haven Line splits from the Harlem Line to join the Northeast Corridor. From 1848 until the 1920s, Woodlawn Station was the only stop in the Bronx shared by both the New York Central and New Haven Railroads until it was moved to Fordham Station.[1]

Platform and track configuration

This station has two high-level side platforms, each four cars long. When trains stop at this station, normally the front four open cars receive and discharge passengers.

The western platform, adjacent to Track 4, is generally used by southbound or Manhattan-bound trains. It is accessible by stairway from East 233rd Street or from the station's parking lot. The eastern platform, adjacent to Track 3, is generally used by northbound or Westchester County-bound trains. It is accessible by stairway from East 233rd Street.

The Harlem Line has four tracks at this location. The middle two tracks, not adjacent to either platform, are used only by express trains.
